Hard Candies



Humbugs: A very popular, traditional sweet shaped as a triangle cushioned humbug. A superb quality mint sweet to suck on. Originates from the North of England in the nineteenth century.


White Humbugs: A sharper mint than the old fashioned humbug but with still the traditional humbug shape. A very refreshing mint to clear the mind and waken the senses. A mint lover’s delight.




Traditional Humbugs: Delicious quality humbug shaped sweet with a golden mint coating and chewy toffee centre. The traditional humbug.




Brown Humbug: A wonderful brown striped mint in the traditional humbug shape --- looks as good as it tastes. No traditional British sweet shop is complete with a humbug or two!



Sherbert: What is sherbert? Not like the American frozen version, British sherbert is a sweet fizzy powder. More than one British child has become addicted to the traditional sherberts as they are a wonderful variation on a traditional hard boiled sweet. A traditional hard candy made by boiling sugar, syrup, butter , cream and vanilla. The ingredients are very similar to toffee but the sugar is boiled to a different stage so that a hard candy is produced instead of a chewy version.




Lemon Fizzballs: Ooooh ---feel the fizz! A beautiful little hard candy -frosted yellow and white stripes. Tastes delightfully of lemon and has the added




Cola Fizzballs: Shaped like a little round ball, this initially produces a mouthwatering sharpness followed by the familiar flavor of cola.

Large Pear Drops: A larger variation of our British pear drops. (for the larger mouths?) these are very pretty and colorful, each sweet combining two colors. They combine flavors of pear and a slightly tangier fruity flavor. The textures are great and these sugar coated scrumptious sweets will keep you happy and busy for quite a while!




Barley Sugars: People often ask what is a barley sugar. Delicious but difficult to describe, it is a very traditional boiled sweet --- usually orange in color-made with sugar and a hint of barley. Until you've tried it, you'll just never know.

White Mint Rock: Mint rock is to the Brits what salt water taffy is to the Americans. We seek it out when we go to the seaside! Mint rock is a hard candy that traditionally is in a long stick form. We sell it you in smaller bite size pieces. A real treat for the mint lover!




Brown Mint Rock: The brown version of the traditional white mint rock. Individually wrapped in small bite size pieces these hard candies are made with brown sugar and are flavored with peppermint essence.




Hawick Balls: Pronounced 'Hoik' rather than 'Haywick', this is one of the most delicious mints on the market. Originating from the little town of Hawick in Scotland, this mint has a recipe that is a closely guarded secret. If you like mints, this one is a must!
